Over 2,500 company sustainability and ESG experts, executives, scientists and researchers from around the world packed convention rooms in Phoenix, Arizona last week at the GreenBiz24 conference. Sustainability professionals were eager to learn how to deal with issues of climate change adaptation, a just transition, international and domestic sustainability disclosure regulation and how to account for greenhouse gas emissions.
GreenBiz24 was a breeding ground for discourse on what obstacles corporations are facing as scrutiny on ESG and sustainability continues to rise. The three-day conference opened Feb. 12 with a call from Bill Weihl, a former Google and Facebook sustainability leader, for industry professionals to push their organizations to advocate for more public policy on climate. Over the next two days, panels elsewhere during the conference focused on how the insurance industry should adapt to climate change, account for scope 3 emissions, and plenty more.
One of the most attended panels came during the conference’s final day, as attendees explored what the European Union’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive would mean for North American companies.
ESG Dive was on the ground in Phoenix to report on the latest updates out of the conference and will continue to publish insights from GreenBiz24 over the coming weeks.
